Commentary Care of Northwest Grain Growers

All wheat futures are making gains higher this morning as it seems that Chicago is going to be leading the way. It seems that trade is trying to cover some of their shorts as no one wants to be short going into the weekend with the current conflict between Israel and Iran.

SovEcon is reporting the Russian 2024 wheat crop at 93 mmt. This is down 1 mmt from their previous forecast. It is nice to see that the crop has dropped by 1 mmt but, that is still a lot of wheat for the rest of the world to have to compete with.

In weather, it looks like Kansas and Oklahoma will have another shot of rain in the 6–7-day forecast. If these rains do come to fruition this will keep wheat bulls tempered for the time being. In the PNW, it still looks dry in the 7-day outlook.
